December 18, 2020 – Leading Chicago real estate law firm MPS Law has elevated associate attorney Holly Shuman to partner, effective January 1, 2021.
The move capped a rapid rise through the ranks for Shuman, who clerked for MPS in 2013 while attending Chicago-Kent College of Law before joining the firm as an associate in 2014. In the years since, she has become a key player in the firm’s tenant leasing and commercial lending practices, working closely with partners Scott Hargadon, Allen Balk and Bill Mitchell on numerous leasing and lending clients while beginning to build a portfolio of her own.
When asked to comment on her promotion, the 32-year-old Shuman was quick to credit the firm’s culture as well as the attorneys who mentored her. “I believe I’m a great example of MPS’s commitment to develop young attorneys and build from within,” she said. “A lot of people think that taking the path from clerk to partner with one firm just doesn’t happen anymore. I’m living proof that it does, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
In another noteworthy personnel move, MPS announced the addition of Bernardo Rocha as a new associate attorney. A lifelong Chicagoan and 2020 graduate of DePaul University College of Law, Rocha joins MPS after clerking for the City of Chicago’s Law Department and interning at both the DePaul Business Law Clinic and Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Community Law Project.
